While Yves Lawrence is known for simple and beautiful pictures, it's his sensibilities and the truthfulness of his camera's observations, which he hopes most move the audience. “Because we are talking to people, I look at the people first, and then start to see visual elements. I try to make accurate and insightful observations and allow the emotion of the piece to emerge.”
Yves’ receptivity, the way he is able to harmonize realities, his approach about truth and honesty, his ability to tell a story, his attention to details and his thorough understanding of what is necessary inspires advertisers to seek him out.
Focused and open minded, Yves always immerses himself into his projects. “I like to have as much information as possible before I start telling the story; because I do believe that it's the details that make it all cohesive in the end."
The collaborative process is a favorite of Yves. “I love art direction, lighting, writing, and the wonderful bouncing off of ideas;" all these joining to satisfy his goal of getting the best out of the people working around him. “Trust those you work with to do their job. Directors can't do it by themselves and it is their responsibility to establish a creative environment that incorporates everyone and to bring everyone's skills to life."
“I do my best to make my reel as eclectic as I can because I don't want to be pigeonholed." A versatile, talented visual storyteller with a strong sense of art direction, Yves Lawrence’s work shows varying attitudes, emotions and captures sentiments of warmth and humanity.
"Simplicity and stories that are definitely clear in their complexity is key. For me everything starts with the script. I search for great stories and I like good storytellers."
